I am so honored to have received the endorsement of the San Antonio Express News Editorial Board.

I could not have accomplished all that I have without the wonderful support of my family, friends, and volunteers. We are extremely proud of the campaign we are running and our grassroots efforts. This campaign is about serving the community, making Precinct 1 successful and flourish with job creation, infrastructure improvements, projects, and community based services.

Thank you for all your support and you vote! Please take a moment to read the Editorial Board’s comments on my Precinct 1 race.

“Two incumbent Bexar County commissioners are on the ballot this spring. Only one is being challenged in his bid for re-election.

We recommend the re-election of Precinct 1 Bexar county Commissioner Sergio “Chico” Rodriguez, 55, a former sheriff’s office employee and CPS Energy lineman, to a third term.

While we may not always support his votes on Commissioners Court, Rodriguez has worked diligently in the best interest of his constituents during his eight-year tenure.

Rodriguez has drawn two opponents in the Democratic Primary. They include Ricardo A. Martinez, 63, a social worker who has not done much campaigning.

The other Democratic candidate is Jennifer Ramos, 36, who once showed great promise as a community leader but who has demonstrated a disturbing pattern of questionable behavior during her eight-year political career.

A former Alamo Community College District trustee, Ramos gave up her seat on that board to seek an appointment to City Council in 2008.

She resigned her City Council seat last year, after being re-elected, so she could pursue the county commissioner’s post.

Ramos’ stint on City Council was marred by several troubling actions which included seeking support from her council colleagues for a company associated with her employer.

She also used taxpayer money to pay a friend, who operated a cleaning business, for catering services and filed more than a dozen receipts for reimbursement from both campaign and council members’ business funds.

There is a lone Republican candidate, Jose “Joe” Ortiz, seeking the Precinct 1 commissioners post. He will face the winner of the Democratic primary in the November General Election.”

As we approach early voting and the Primary Election Day, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all my family, friends, and supporters who have stood by me for the past eight years. Last night, I was especially honored to be joined by Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon, Tracy Wolff, Irene Elizondo, and Linda Chavez-Thompson for the first ‘Chico for
Women’s Leadership’ fundraiser.

Words can not describe how touching it was to be surrounded by so many women from our community as they celebrated my efforts I have worked for to promote the advancement of women as leaders in our community.

Reflecting back on all that I have been able to accomplish in Precinct 1, I am reminded of all the reasons that have inspired me to run for County Commissioner. The past eight years in office as County Commissioner for Precinct 1, my inspiration is stemmed from my three daughters. I want them to proud of the type of County Commissioner that they have inspired me to be. I want to show them there is plenty of room in our community for women to work and serve as local leaders.

As your County Commissioner, I will continue to find ways to ensure that the quality of life improves in Precinct 1 and that Precinct 1 remains the #1 precinct in Bexar County when it comes to growth, development, job creation, and quality of resident services.

My campaign continues to welcome volunteers to block walk, phone bank, work a poll or give rides to the polls during early voting and on Election Day. Please contact the headquarters at (210) 627-9912 to sign up to volunteer or email my campaign coordinator, Sylvia at sylvia@voteforchico.com

Early voting begins May 14 through May 25, 2012

Election Day is May 29, 2012

It is also never too late to contribute to the campaign. You may do so online by clicking on the “donate today” button or mail
a non-corporate check made payable to “Sergio Chico Rodriguez Campaign” and send it to 638 Cantrell, SAT 78221.

Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve as County Commissioner for Precinct 1.

As we approach early voting and the Primary Election Day, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all my family, friends, and supporters who have stood by me for the past eight years.

Reflecting back on all that I have been lucky enough to accomplish in Precinct 1, I am reminded of all the reasons that inspired me to run for County Commissioner.

As a life long resident of Precinct 1, where my home remains, I made a decision long ago to invest in myself and my community. I wanted to become part of the solution for Precinct 1. It is because of love and support from the Precinct 1 community, I have been able to formulate policies and develop ways to deliver need based community services.

As your County Commissioner, I will continue to find ways to think outside the box to ensure communities are improved, the quality of lives is not compromised, and Precinct 1 remains the #1 precinct in Bexar County when it comes to growth, development, job creation, and quality of resident services.

Please take and moment and click on the below link to view a video that a gracious volunteer developed for the campaign. These are a couple of examples in which I have worked diligently to serve Precinct 1.
